FIELD ASTON KIR ROYALE
After losing our 2012 foal out of Ella, we were waiting on tender hooks on the run up to her due date. Kia was aptly named as we were actually pony shopping when Jill and David were foaling her and we were constantly checking the phone to hear news all was OK. We were in a Kia Sportage with the stud owner and he got the car stuck in a very muddy field right at the bottom of a valley, with no phone signal. After a considerable amount of time we managed to get out and the minute we got signal we had a voicemail from Jill and David announcing that Ella had another bay filly-hence we called her Kia.
Given that her Mum is getting older now we really wanted to retain the bloodlines. We were delighted with Kia as she proved to have an amazing temperament, movement and conformation, unfortunately she grew too big for the 128 class and didn’t look the correct type in the 138 class. So we have made the decision that she can now carry on Ella’s bloodlines and Kia will be put in foal in 2020.
